Wintmalt is a winter barley variety grown by our friends down at Goschie Farms in Oregon. Goschie uses Salmon-Safe farming practices and offered this malt to us originally for our Oregon customers. Wintmalt malts wonderfully and presents a wonderfully malty base for any style beer, especially Salmon-Safe beers. We offer it as a Pilsner and Pale malt.
Malt Story
In an effort to give Oregon breweries malt grown in their backyard, we partnered with Goschie Farms to grow Wintmalt for us. This barley had been grown previously at Oregon State University, so we knew it would grow well in the valley and it was bred specifically to be a malting barley, so we knew it would malt well for us. This malt shines in a Pilsner color due to it’s high DP, but we also have it as a Pale.
This malt is currently only available to our Oregon customers. Check back next year for added availability!
