Our smoking program at Skagit Valley Malting is designed from the ground up. Originally built to offer peated malt, but upgraded, redesigned, and continuously re-engineered, to generate the purest smoked malts on the west coast. Each of our smoked malts offer their own unique flavors and are great in either whiskey or beer!
Regularly Stocked Smoked Barley
Alder
Alder is the ideal smoke for Rauchbier and lightly smoked whiskey. Subtle, classic, smoked flavor.
Pecan
Pecan smoke adds a smokey-sweet flavor to any style.
Applewood
Sweet and savory, can add a touch of smokey fruit to beers.
Maple
Presenting subtle hints of breakfast, Maple smoked malt is excellent in Porters and Stouts.
Garryana Oak
Locally sourced PNW Oak. Big, bold, campfire flavor.

Peat Smoked
Using peat from the only mineable peat bog in Washington, we create the only true Washington Peat Smoked Malt.
Northwest Peated Malt
By connecting a peat burner to our malting machines we’re able to add peat smoke during the kilning process, allowing us to create a Northwest Peated Malt.
