Since our founding in 2010, it has been a mission of Skagit Valley Malting to develop “non-commodity” relationships between farmers and brewers/distillers. A key part of building this relationship was a dedication to exploring different varieties of barley for malting
We have started the year off strong with five single vessel malting machines! Production is at full capacity, machines are running 24/7 but we won't be stopping there. Our operations team has begun fabricating machines six and seven and they are expected to be up and running by the beginning of Spring.

A maritime climate is a region that is heavily influenced by the surrounding ocean and results in small seasonal changes and high levels of moisture in the atmosphere. This result is a climate that is moderated by ocean water, meaning cool summers and mild winters

SMSH Beer: An opportunity to taste the nuances of barley varieties
It's not everyday you get to drink a beer brewed by a Maltster, it is a rare opportunity to see the full expression of a Malt House from finished malt to finished beer. WIll DeRemer, head Maltster at Skagit Valley Malting, takes pride in the SMSH beers (Single Malt Single Hop) he brews, not only is it a chance to taste a new batch of malt but a chance to share new flavors with brewers and distillers.
