While we’ve built our company around Craft Beer and Craft Distilling, we’ve also been quietly pursuing fun culinary options for our malt. Malt flour can help with crusts and adds a lovely flavor. When we started working with Zeeks Pizza to replace their malt extract with our malt flour it seemed like a perfect match. Zeeks brings together an exciting brand that makes delicious pizza along with highlighting many of our brewing customers on their beer list. What could be better than craft PNW companies working together to highlight local ingredients?

Why did you start to use Skagit Valley Malts?
Flavor and craftsmanship. Some of the finest malts are right in our backyard. Our craft beer partners use a lot of SVM malts and there are a lot of the same ingredients in dough as there is beer so we figured why not give it a try.
What has been your favorite product from us?
From a food perspective the malt flour. The most interesting malt for food and beverage, though, is the triticale....super interesting flavors and potential.
Desert Island beer/brewery/pizza style?
For a desert island beer, something light and sessionable since you’d need a lot of them! Thinking pilsner or lager. It would be impossible to pick one brewery since there are so many high quality craft brewers in the PNW. For pizza style, a hand-tossed pizza with just enough structure to hold the toppings that has been baked-off strong!
Favorite type of beer?
Our favorite type of beer is one that is poured correctly. So much goes into the perfect pour- storage, tap lines, glassware, temperature, and more. So many places have great beer line-ups but don’t pour them correctly and you are just wasting a beer if you don’t nail all those important details.
What’s next from you?
Growth throughout the west coast. Zeeks is all about serving up fun, handcrafted experiences and there is no shortage of kickass locations in ski towns, waterfront cities, or any place with a great outdoors scene. Since we have both company-owned and franchise locations, there is no limit as to what is next. Our franchise partners are amazing and we are always game to talk to anybody that wants to bring a Zeeks to their part of the world.
